I am posting this from my brand new phone. This thing is quite the beast. I have really enjoyed getting to fool with it for the last few days. I haven't had any time off of work, so I haven't really invest a ton of time into it. This weekend, even though it's a holiday, will likely see me playing with it A LOT.
From the moment I turned it on it was blazing fast. The quickest and most responsive phone I've seen or used, iPhone included. This thing was soooooooo quick. I didn't put many apps on it, because I honestly am over the phase where I need tons of apps all over the place, most of which I will never use. Not to mention, most of the apps I would or could use.... they are just a couple taps away from being on the phone.
I only got around to unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone last night. I managed to botch my installation of a custom recovery, I'll have to try again tonight. I went ahead and picked up Root Explorer. Between that and Titanium Backup I should be just fine when it comes to rooting and backing everything up. I feel that the phone actually performed better BEFORE I rooted. Not that it is laggy or anything. I retained the stock ROM and haven't tried anything new yet. I am hoping for a stock experience in a 4.0.3 ROM before I get to flashing.
I really need to get a case, but since I've got the extended battery I might be out of luck. I'm going to check out what Verizon has to offer and at least get myself a screen protector. I used a Verizon protector on my Thunderbolt and it worked pretty well. It is actually still on the phone and hasn't peeled up or anything. I'm hoping that it'll work that well on this new phone.
I'm overally very pleased and I look forward to getting a couple of updates to iron out some of the bugs and performance issues. Very much looking forward to some fancy new ROMs and updated features, too.
Oh... and LTE is still fucking awesome. Eat a dick, Apple.
