Dear Steam, We've already done this update.

Steam is a great tool. It helps you play games on machines that normal give fits about them. Lots of SECUROM games and the like. It offers a huge catalog of games and gives you some very nice features while you're playing those games.

The one feature of Steam that has to go: looking for and downloading the SAME updates every time you start a new game. Updating my drivers? Awesome! Updating Direct X when it is up to date or when downloading the VC redist for the millionth time? Overkill! Stop wasting my gaming time with this crap. I want to PLAY THE FUCKING GAME. If I wanted to download redundant updates over and over I'd do it my god damned self. I want to launch a game when I click on it.

If Steam wants to run a once update or check for new versions, fine. I love being up to date and I like that they will update a lot of things for me. But, please stop fucking with my time and spending 10 minutes downloading, installing or otherwise wasting my time on things I don't need. It's pointless and it happens with EVERY NEW GAME I LAUNCH! AGHHHHH!
